My life in a box

Thoughts on moving house
The movers have gone.
I sit on the floor and survey the chaos left behind.
Papers, dust, cobwebs and crap.
Stuff I no longer need.
After the stress of the past weeks i should feel relief.
Instead I feel sadness and despair.
My life here is over, this adventure is done.
Friends will become distant, someone you once knew.
A fresh start I hear you say.
Dust bunnies, hayfever and sweat.
You first have to unpack on the other side.
I watched them load my life into a truck.
Six weeks on an ocean.
Anything can happen.
Hurricanes, whales and Somali pirates.
I said goodbye to my life as I know it.
Sitting on the floor I survey the damages.
Remnants of a life I once had.
Scrabble, a painting, a bag of books.
Forgotten in the mad rush to pack.
I watched them load my life onto the back of a truck.
Sadness, grief and angst.
My life is in a box.

This I understand completely..Sometimes there is a sense of freedom that comes from "cleaning out the junk" but uprooting, relocating is emotional. When there's a new adventure awaiting us it takes the edge of sadness/melancholy out of it.. what is your new adventure?
Wow, what do you get to do?
I won't talk about how many times I've moved, but I will say that the "fresh canvas" that awaits you (once you unpack and adjust) might just be a new awakening to something you've always dreamed of. Lot to be said for minimal living. Always hard to say good-bye though.
Don't forget to change your "from" to "moving boxes" lol...hugs my friend!
Love it. my favorite part:
"Anything can happen.
Hurricanes, whales and Somali pirates"
I'm feeling it, Cindy. So were are you off to now?
I have grown accustomed to leaving it in the box in anticipation of the next move, life in a box??? I too am feeling you here. Best regards.
I have had that moving experience too and started fresh again. Nice Hub! All the best for the HubChallenge.
aww cindy :( that makes me sad. why do you have to wait until the 24th of june and I don't think I ever asked where you were moving to?
wow I just read that...so you will be in an empty house for over a month. That sucks...By the way I LOVED THE HUB..don't think I mentioned it in the last comment!
Hi Cindy, I find it interesting how you are able to put into words the things that happen in your life. I wish you all the best in your new "home" and be able to let your life out of the box again. :-)
Wow I'm not big into poetry but I so relate to this and you even have related google ads - totally cool! I love moving but its the packing which is horrible - most of our stuff is still "at home" in storage, and after a couple of years its why am I paying $100's a month to store a bunch of old clothes and furniture? It must be tough though when kids get to the age that they don't automatically come to.
She's pulling your legs, Tanzania is closer to me, thats where she wants to be, right Cindy, tell all the truth. Haha
Good luck, Ive been there, its tough, but you'l enjoy it. Go to zanzibar as often as yo can. xxx
You have my deep understanding Cindy, I also moved so many times in my life.
Wishing you to enjoy your work in Tanzania....
I have packed up many times, learned to possess only what I need, and what I can leave behind.
All the best Cindy! :) And these days you never really leave anyone behind - you can connect at the touch of a button!
Good luck in your new digs...moving sucks!
Wow Cindy, from Nanjing to Tanzania...I have also moved quite a bit, but within my own country...your life must be one continuous adventure. All the best in the new school and also for the hub challenge.
Detest pakin...excuse spellin mistakes boy am I intoxicated on strawberry slush puupies. Best of luck with 30 hubs Cindy I am rooting for you...What do you get for doing it.God I couldn't do it it takes me 4 hours to d oone and there is no way I could do one every day
I hate moving Cindy Good luck to you moving and in your 30 hubs endevour. This one is above my capabilities.
You are welcome Cindy, I even wear my bobby dazzler knee high multi colour socks too while I am cheer-leading
All the best. And remember, if you don't open any one of the boxes in the six months after the move, then you don't need anything in that box --
But moving is just another beginning not an end. The boxes form a continuum of your life :D
Don't fret my friend. Goodbyes are a part of life. I know it is always easier said than done, but I know you, you're a sparkler - shine your light somewhere else and spread that gift some more. Good luck :D
Cindy, this is so sweet and sad all at once. I've moved about 20 times in my life (same as LaMatadora) and although I hate to leave a place of comfort, I do enjoy new beginnings:) Hope you're feeling okay. You won't be sad for long, I'm sure of it!
Cindy dear. You will be so happy to live agin in yer mother land. I am happy for you. Moving is a bitch tho. Keep us informed now. good luck with the challenge too.
When I was young I moved six times in two years - but all I had then was a suitcase and a trombone!
Sometimes I like to make a change. I look forward to them. It is hard to move on from things that we like, the things that define us, our friends, our normal routines... but I like to think of life as an adventure, and embrace the new things to come.
LOL you're comment to Tom reminded me of Steve Martin in the Jerk: All I need is this lamp and that's all I need....
Just think when you do finally open the stored boxes it'll be like Christmas!!! "OOOh that's where I put it!"
Cindy - bugger ... you took the Scrabble. Shoulda trashed it ;)
Nice hub and jolly good luck in your next home/country/job :)
Didn't let them take your computer lol great poem, good luck with move and the challenge.

- 3 Ways to Make Your Own Jump Rings
If you're making your own jewellery, or doing chain maille, instead of buying jump rings, there are at least three ways to make your own jump rings. Making jump rings isn't difficult to do, one of the ways to make your own jump rings is "the proper way" involving a saw and the other two are ways to make jump rings without using a saw. You can use your jump rings to attach pendants to chains, to make links to create your own bracelet or necklace from scratch, or even for chain maille. - 12 days ago
- USBTypewriter Conversion Kit
